Sapphire

|
Sapphire is an excellent optical
material. It has a very broad transmission range extending from
0.15 to 6.0 um. It is chemically inerial and insoluble in almost
everything except high temperatures. Sapphire lenses are widely
used when other less costly components would not be suitable because
of sapphire's great hardness and resistance. |
